چکیده

We present a method for tracking the 3D position of a nger, using a single camera placed several meters away from the user. After skin detection, we use motion to identify the gesticulating arm. The nger point is found by analyzing the arm's outline. To derive a 3D trajectory, we rst track 2D positions of the user's elbow and shoulder. Given that a human's upper arm and lower arm have consistent length, we observe that the possible locations of a nger and elbow form two spheres with constant radii. From the previously tracked body points, we can reconstruct these spheres, computing the 3D position of the elbow and nger. These steps are fully automated and do not require human intervention. The system presented can be used as a visualization tool, or as a user input interface, in cases when the user would rather not be constrained by the camera system.

Mobile Augmented Reality Interaction via Finger Tracking in a Board Game Setting

In this paper we explore the potential of interaction based on finger tracking in mobile augmented reality settings, i.e. applications where users look at the live image of, for example, a mobile phone’s video camera and virtual 3D objects are embedded to enrich the scene that they see. In particular, we investigate if and how people can interact with such 3D virtual objects by using finger tra...

Skeleton Tracking using Kinect Sensor & Displaying in 3D Virtual Scene

Current research on skeleton tracking techniques focus on image processing in conjunction with a video camera constrained by bones and joint movement detection limits. The paper proposed 3D skeleton tracking technique using a depth camera known as a Kinect sensor with the ability to approximate human poses to be captured, reconstructed and displayed 3D skeleton in the virtual scene using OPENNI...

Follow My Finger Navigation

This paper presents a novel interaction technique called Follow my Finger (FmF) for navigation in 3D virtual environments using a 2D interactive view on a table-top device. FmF consists in moving a camera icon that represents the 2D subjective position and orientation of a viewpoint in the 3D world. Planar, tactile, and direct manipulation of the camera icon facilitates navigation in the 3D env...

How to Make a Simple and Robust 3D Hand Tracking Device Using a Single Camera

In this paper we propose a non intrusive tracking system able to capture simple hand gestures in a fast and reliable way. Our device uses the images taken from a single camera to capture the 3D position and orientation of the hand of the user. In particular, the 3D position of the forefinger tip is used as a 3D marker, and the posture of the hand is used to input simple commands. The proposed a...

Multi-camera Finger Tracking and 3D Trajectory Reconstruction for HCI Studies

Three-dimensional human-computer interaction has the potential to form the next generation of user interfaces and to replace the current 2D touch displays. To study and to develop such user interfaces, it is essential to be able to measure how a human behaves while interacting with them. In practice, this can be achieved by accurately measuring hand movements in 3D by using a camera-based syste...
